#205 – Tuesday, January 5th
A reworking of “Time is the Wound” painted in 2008, and out of the studio since. The original version, created on raw canvas, was varnished with a liquid varnish that over time turned the un-painted portions of the canvas a dark murky brown. So back to the studio it came needing to be “fixed”. Rather than trying to restore or recreate the original, I thought I’d attempt to capture the spirit of the work, rendering the compositional elements in a minimal pallet of graphite, and washes of white, orche and a pale red. Inside out, when time is the wound.
The original painting photographed in 2008, then again in 2015.
Thanks for reading.
