kurre.art news #247

august 13th

This weekend I’m showing with Eye Lounge artists Gina DeGideo, and Megan Driving Hawk. The theme; works in progress. For my part, I’ve included a collection of pieces on paper, excerpts from one of my journals, and objects. It’s exciting to present work integral to my creative endeavors but rarely seen outside the studio. Please come by for a visit.

I’ll be at the gallery this Sunday, August 15th from 11 AM until 3 PM. I look forward to seeing everyone!

Thanks for reading

Now is the time to fall back on the words of great artists to illuminate my lack of progress on the video documenting the exhibition, A Certainty of Measure.

“When something is finished, that means it’s dead, doesn’t it? I believe in everlastingness. I never finish a painting – I just stop working on it for a while.” (Arshile Gorky)

“I’m never finished with my paintings; the further I get, the more I seek the impossible and the more powerless I feel.” (Claude Monet).

My painting, These are the things I remember. Their remnants cloaked in clouds felt but no longer known , was selected to appear in the May 2021 issue of the literary magazine Beyond Words.

I’ll be at eye lounge, in person, this Sunday from 11-3 pm.  The Inside of Outside is an exhibition of works by eye lounge member artists exploring the inner workings of the natural world as a reflection of self. It’s a terrific exhibition, so come by, see the work, and say hello!

Thanks for reading!

Through the chaos of preparation, the exhibition, and sorting out its end, my studio is in shambles. I like a bit of disarray, but there’s a flash point where my brain just kinks. So, I’ve been doing nothing I should, just what happens, and this painting is what happened.

Now back to the tasks at hand. First and foremost, I want to thank the folks who visited the gallery, sent their good wishes, followed the newsletter and my exhibition posts on social media. Thank you! Your time and interest are very much appreciated! Next, the virtual version of A Certainty of Measure will be ready to post soon, and I think very engaging on its own.

In the not too distant future, I’ve work in a couple of group shows, then opening on December 17th, a second solo exhibition at Eye Lounge. Twenty twenty-one has started out full speed and looks to end up the same way!
